On Sunday, January 25, 2004, First Christian Church of Antelope Valley rejoiced in the beginning of a weekly Spanish-language worship service, created for the growing population of Spanish-speaking residents of the Antelope Valley. FCCAV Board Chairman Steve Reading and Rev. Wilfredo Del Pilar, coordinator of Hispanic Ministries for the Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), officially welcomed an intergenerational group of more than fifty adults and children for the joyful inaugural service.

Rev. Ernesto Ramirez, pastor of the Hispanic Congregation of the Church of the Valley (DOC) in Van Nuys, gathered a core group of his members who had relocated to Lancaster and Palmdale for weekly Bible study and worship in homes several months ago. The group has grown steadily in both numbers and enthusiasm. They will continue to meet in homes for Wednesday evening fellowship and Bible study, but presently they will celebrate the Lord's day in FCCAV's sanctuary every Sunday evening at 6 PM. You are invited!

It is our dream that the Hispanic congregation and our own English-speaking congregation grow closer and closer together and become one multicultural church. Our Elders and our Church Board, and our pastor, Dr. David Wheeler, who himself speaks fluent Spanish, endorse this vision wholeheartedly.
