In 2002, to the surprise and delight of the adults, the youth Sunday School class announced a desire to present a live nativity scene. They made good on their plans. In fact, they have now presented the manger scene for three years in a row. Here are some pictures of the 2004 nativity.

The kids circulated sign-up sheets with a variety of tasks available for children and adults alike. Bales of straw were trucked in along with a donkey, a pony, and two sheep. Actors selected from racks of costumes. Refreshments were prepared for both vistors and participants.

The scene was set up along Avenue J across from the Lancaster Wal-Mart. As motorists encountered the nativity, some honked, some stopped to chat, and some even came inside for some hot chocolate and cookies. Many who stopped said that this was the first manger scene their children had ever experienced.
